Amidst the bustling streets of Mumbai lies a sanctuary for the most vulnerable members of our society – Surya Hospital. Here, the relentless efforts of dedicated medical professionals converge with compassion to provide a lifeline for infants in their most critical hours.

Recently, on the 28th of March, 2024, Surya Hospital welcomed a tiny yet mighty warrior into its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The female baby of Mrs. Pallavi Karande and Mr. Yogesh Karande, born prematurely at just 26 weeks and 1 day, arrived weighing a mere 500 grams. Battling against the odds, she faced respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis risks, and neonatal hyperbilirubinemia from her first breath.

In the tender hands of our skilled medical team, the infant received immediate care, including mechanical ventilation support, intravenous fluids, and antibiotics. The journey ahead for her is fraught with challenges, but our commitment to her well-being knows no bounds.

As we strive to nurture her fragile existence, we anticipate an extended stay of 12 to 14 weeks in our care. During this time, our focus will be on providing continuous respiratory support, establishing enteral nutrition, and facilitating healthy weight gain – crucial milestones for her development.

The road to recovery is paved with uncertainties, and the financial burden of such extensive medical care can be overwhelming. We estimate the expenses for this hospitalization to be approximately Rs. 21,50,000/- (Twenty One Lakh Fifty Thousand Rupees). However, we understand that the final costs may vary depending on the duration of treatment, additional investigations, and the infant's progress.
